The cultural competitions are held to bring out the various talents embedded in the students. Students are able to showcase their skills in various activities and compete to improve their ability. It helps to provide a forum for the young ones to express their creativity and originality and demonstrate their inherent talents.

Affirming the above statement, St. Vincent’s organized SV Exuberanza 2016-17 intra school cultural competition on 29th of July to provide a platform for the encouragement of upcoming talent in the field of arts such as music, dance, painting etc. The programme was inaugurated by Mr. P. Wilson, senior advocate, Madras High Court who has held the distinguished posts such as additional solicitor General of India from 2012-14 and as the additional Advocate General of Tamilnadu from 2008-2011. The group event continued the next day with more enthusiasm.

The following are the various items included to showcase their talents and creativity .

OFF STAGE EVENTS : Varnajalam, Artistic Nails, Creative Art, Card Designing, Kitchen Carnival, Wealth out of Waste, Memory Game, Origami, Mehandi Art, Dumbcharades, Hair Do.

ON STAGE EVENTS : Fancy Dress, Mono Act, Twinkling stars, Cuckoo melody, Bharathanatiyam, Desi Grooves, Rythmic Notes.

All these items are included as our institution desires the participation of all the students gifted with different talents. The judges from various fields evaluated the students and the winners were awarded prizes and certificates. Around 435 prizes won by our students. The team spirit of the four houses De Paul House (Red), De Jacobis House (Blue), De Perboyre House (Green) and De Marillac House (Yellow) with able house captains contributed lot in the performance of group activities. The competitions were held category-wise

Category – 2 Std. III, IV & V
Category – 3 Std. VI, VII & VIII
Category – 4 Std. IX & X
Category – 5 Std. XI & XII
The champions of each category were awarded during the Independence Day celebration by Mr. K. N. V. Nair Rtd. Air Comodre. The overall points bagged by the houses are as follows.

Yellow House                –         240 pts               I

Blue House                   –       200 pts                II

Green House                 –         196 pts               III

Red House                    –        134 pts                IV

On 5th August, the SV Exuberanza 2016-17 Inter School Cultural Competition was conducted with students from 13 schools competing in style. This programme was formally inaugurated by a film actor and casting director associated with Tamil film industry Mr. Jeeva Ravi. We had around 685 students participating in 20 events under different categories and about 330 prizes were won by the students. Short Film was a new event which was introduced this year.

The competitions highlighted the efforts taken by each school which was evident in the quality of presentation and participation of students. The final outcome was spectacular and a visual treat for the eyes.St. Vincent’s bagged the first prize, Z. Mathew Rolling trophy and Rs. 5000/- cash award with 121 points. SBOA Matric. Hr. Sec. School secured second and received a trophy and Rs. 3000/- cash award with 60 points. Daniel Thomas Matric. Hr. Sec. School secured third and received a trophy and Rs. 2000/- cash award with 50 points.

Valedictory function was held in the evening. The prizes were distributed by our Chief Guest Mr. Navin Kumar, a Mimicry Artist and contestant in KalakkapovathuYaru Season five in Vijay TV.The management supports all the activities and provides all infrastructural encouragement for the development of the children.I express my deep gratitude and appreciation to our beloved Principal Rev. Fr. Johny Koyikkara CM, Vice Principal Rev. Fr. Esthappan CM, Mrs. Akshaya Lakshmi, Mrs. Jeyanthi Christina, Mrs. Geetha, Mrs. Angeline Selvarani and teaching and non-teaching staff and students for showcasing their talents to make the event a stupendous success.
