“SERVICE TO MANKIND IS THE PATH TO GOD”
Junior Red Cross – The main objective of this unit is to promote life and health through training and educating students on safety, primary health care and healthy living. To emphasize the significance of First Aid, the preparation of the First Aid box was illustrated. Importance of blood and organ donation was also emphasized.
The Madras Hire purchase Association organized a rally on Road Safety Awareness on 10th of April 2016. The JRC unit of SVS participated in the rally and was awarded participation certificates.
Two day training programme was conducted on 25 and 26th April 2016 in Chennai School Mrs. Jayalakshmi briefed the students about the importance of Agriculture, herbal plants, food habits and yoga.
On June 12, 2016 World Child Labour Eradication Awareness Programme was observed. JRC organized World Blood Donor’s Day on June 14, 2016 by delivering a brief speech about the importance of Blood Donation.
The International Yoga Day was observed on June 21st 2016.
The Inauguration of JRC for the academic year was presided over by Mr. Arun Kumar, Professor, Dept. of English, MCC on 24th June 2016. JRC Unit also conducted a one day out- reach programme for the volunteers and visited Egmore Museum on June 25. They also visited the library which encouraged them to cultivate reading habits.
To commemorate the Anniversary of Geneva Convention, the South Chennai Red Cross Society conducted various competitions in which our volunteers P. Priyadharshini VIII B won 3rd Prize in English oratorical.
The volunteers participated actively in the Annual Camp held at Yelagiri from November 24 to November 26. First Aid demonstration class was conducted on 25 & 26th November 2016 for the JRC volunteers and also a one day trip to Pondichery was organised on 28th November 2016.
The JRC students voluntarily help in the orderly arrangement of bicycles and guiding the tiny tots to the class rooms.
The young volunteers with the constant support of our beloved principal, vice principal and dedicated counselors, made a significant contribution to meet the needs of the most vulnerable in the society and thereby promote humanitarian spirit.
